Further changes to commenting...

I really dont understand all this Internet computer stuff! Ok, Anonymous commenting is re-enabled, but Moderation remains in place. This means that all posts will be checked before being published and maybe vetoed...

Please focus on the school and not each other - can be hard admitedly when there are disagreements. Please accept that in many cases a differing view of what is going on could be completely valid.

For those interested in the Diocesan Education Dept you can find all about it here: http://www.rcdow.org.uk/education/. Click on Contact Us and you can even see what they look like.

I am so glad that you've re-enabled 'anonymous'. I really wanted to comment before but just didn't feel safe enough to do so. I'm glad that you will continue to check on comments before allowing them to be published. Hopefully now we can have a proper debate and find a way forward.

Hello from Teresa Roscow again!

For those of you who were at the Meeting last week, please could you tell me if Paul Barber was there? He's a fairly Big Cheese in the rcdow education set up. I think Mr Pittendreigh was there, he was the one who very naievely condemned this Blog, therefore enlightening the likes of me to its existence...and I believe he is the Diocesan Governor? Is that right?

Thanks for the info

Hello everyone, below is some information that might set everything in context.
Mrs Cleugh began as Head teacher of St Mary's in Hillingdon in Jan 2002. By July of 2003 a total of 26 members of staff had left. St Mary's school is a one form entry school, therefore this amounted to a mass exodus. Also during this time there remained only one original member of the governing body. Mrs Cleugh chose to announce staff that had left as going on to promotions or spending time with their families. These were not the reasons most chose to leave.
Several became ill with stress.
Below is a timeline of the types of letters written to various bodies between Feb 2002 and March 2004.
1. Feb 2002 letter to Head teacher regarding concerns for special needs provision in the school.
2. March 2002 Letter to chair of Governors regarding special needs provision, cc to union body.
3. May 2002 Letter to union body regarding concerns.
4. June 2002 Letters to Hillingdon, Westminster Diocese and Union body regarding concerns.
5. Aug 2002 Letter to chair of governors and cc to Hillingdon, the Diocese and Union regarding concerns for the school.
6. Nov 2002 Letter to Director of Education at Hillingdon, cc to secretary of state for education, MP , union bodies, Hillingdon asking for an independent enquiry regarding concerns at the school.
7. Jan 2003 Letter to MP indicating a lack of confidence and response by the Governors, LEA and the Diocese.

Jan to July 2003 10 members of staff left.

July 2003 Letter to MP regarding serious concerns for special needs.

oct 2003 letter to OFSTED requesting inspector to revisit the school.
Nov 2003 Letter to MP serious concerns
Nov 2003 Letter to MP concerns for staff and pupils.
Nov 2003 Letter to MP concerns for staff.
Nov 2003 Letter to MP highlighting trauma for staff and colleagues at St Mary's.
Nov 2003 Letter to MP regarding concerns at the school.
Dec 2003 MP link with Cardinal and referred to Bishop regarding concerns at St Mary's. Meeting held with Bishop Stack, MP and Diocese.
Jan2004 Letter from parents to OFSTED requesting urgent help. Other letters of complaint attached.
Feb 2004 Letter to Hillingdon education authority outlining areas of concern.
March 2004 Letter to Diocese outlining formal complaint.

By now all original staff many of which were part of the community had left the school.

Food for thought for St Vincent's School. Therefore this shows that the Diocese, Bishop Stack and Hillingdon Education Authority were fully aware of the circumstances involving St Mary's before they appointed Mrs Cleugh at St Vincent's school.

Hello from Teresa Roscow
I have read the info from Hillingdon and it beggers belief. I have three questions

firstly were the letters from individuals or was there ever a petition?

secondly does anyone know the procedure for appointing a Head - would our governors have had to collect references in which case ignorance of this seems impossible...

thirdly how is the MP in HIlingdon and should he be contacted again, as he seemed to be involved and concerned

Like a lot of parents I've been reading this blog but haven't actually posted. However T Ruth's post has sort of tipped the balance for me. As a parent of children at St Vincent's I was very disturbed to read this post. It seems to confirm the rumours that have been going around about our Head.

Although I understand about the needs for confidentiality etc, would it be possible to let us know what type of responses the writers of these letters had? Were the letters sent by lots of different people? Also has this information been passed on to our governors?
What I don't understand is if there were so many problems at her previous school, how did Mrs C get references for St Vincents? I am really concerned about this, what is going on?
